FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IC660BBD024 is a High-Density 32-point Discrete Sourcing I/O Module manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark I & II Series used in GE Speedtronic Turbine Control Systems. A DC 32-Circuit Source/Sink I/O Block is an intelligent, configurable module that interfaces the controller to devices that provide or accept a binary signal. The blocks are compatible with a wide range of input devices, including both 2-wire and 3-wire electronic proximity switches. Outputs may be low-power control and indicating devices such as relays, contactors, and lamps. Two models are available:

  • 12/24 VDC 32- Circuit Source block (IC66*BBD024), which provides current to field output devices.
  • 5/12/24 VDC 32-Circuit Sink block (IC66*BBD025), which receives current from field output devices.

BLOCK MOUNTING:

The block can be mounted in either the upright or inverted position. Ensure there is at least a 2-inch gap between blocks. Secure the block by drilling two holes for 8-32 screws or bolts, aligning the notches on the upper and lower flanges with the mounting holes. Use 8-32 screws and star washers to ensure a reliable ground connection.

FIELD WIRING:

Terminals 5 through 46 are designated for field devices. Each terminal can accommodate one AWG #14 wire (approximately 2.1mm² in cross-section), two AWG #14 solid wires (2.1mm²), or two AWG #16 stranded wires (each around 1.3mm²). Any terminal can be configured as an input or output. Connect one terminal of a field device to DC power, and the other to the block (terminals 10-41). All I/O devices should return to the same power circuit. Based on layout and current requirements, positive and negative connections can be bussed and linked using single wires to either the block or the power source.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the maximum wire size for the terminals?

Each terminal can accept one AWG #14 wire (2.1mm²), two AWG #14 solid wires (2.1mm² each), or two AWG #16 stranded wires (1.3mm² each).

Can I mount the Genius I/O block in any orientation?

Yes, the block can be mounted either right side up or upside down. Just ensure proper alignment of the mounting holes and flanges.

What hardware should I use to mount the Genius I/O block?

Use 8-32 screws and star washers to mount the block. The star washers help provide a reliable ground connection.
