Functional Description

IS200TDBTH2ABC is a Contact I/O Terminal Board developed by GE. It is a part of mark VIe control system. The board offers a comprehensive solution for TMR contact input/output operations, featuring robust features, compatibility with Mark VIe systems, and seamless integration with PDIO I/O packs.

Features

  • The board accepts 24 group isolated contact inputs, which are supplied with nominal 24, 48, or 125 V DC wetting voltage from an external source. These inputs feature noise suppression to protect against surge and high-frequency noise, ensuring reliable operation in diverse environments.
  • Additionally, the board provides 12 form-C relay outputs, offering flexibility in control and automation applications. Furthermore, it accepts an option card for expanding relay functions, providing customization options to suit specific requirements.
  • In Mark VIe systems, the board seamlessly integrates with PDIO I/O packs to enable communication with controllers over Ethernet. Three I/O packs plug into D-type connectors on the TDBT board, facilitating connectivity and data exchange.
  • Connection Points for PDIO: Three connection points for PDIO are provided on the board. In systems with dual controllers, the PDIO on connector JR1 is networked to the R controller, JS1 PDIO to the S controller, and JT1 PDIO to both R and S controllers. In TMR configurations, one network connection is provided to each PDIO, leading to the respective controller.
  • Compatibility Considerations: It's important to note that the TDBT board is not designed to operate correctly with a single I/O pack. It is specifically tailored for TMR configurations and requires dual controllers for optimal functionality.

Contact Inputs

  • The contact input functionality of the board is aligned with that of the STCI, with adjustments made to accommodate 24, 48, and 125 V DC wetting voltages. The input wetting voltage ranges vary accordingly (16 to 32 V DC), 32 to 64 V DC, and 100 to 145 V DC, ensuring compatibility with different voltage levels. The threshold voltage for contact sensing is set at 50 percentof the wetting voltage, ensuring accurate detection of input transitions.
  • Current Limiting: Contact input currents are resistance limited to 2.5 mA for the first 21 circuits and 10 mA for circuits 22 through 24. This limitation ensures safe and consistent operation of the contact inputs while preventing damage to the circuitry.
  • Power Supply Protection: The 24 V DC supply is protected by polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) fuses, which limit the current to 0.5 A. These fuses can be reset, providing an additional layer of protection against overcurrent conditions and ensuring the safety and reliability of the power supply.
  • Noise Suppression: Each input is equipped with filters to reduce high-frequency noise and suppress surge near the point of signal entry. These filters enhance the integrity of the input signals, minimizing the impact of external interference and ensuring accurate signal detection.
  • Signal Processing: The discrete input voltage signals are routed to the I/O processor, which passes them through optical isolators for electrical isolation. Subsequently, the signals are converted to digital signals and transferred to the controller. This process ensures reliable and accurate transmission of input data, enhancing the overall performance and functionality of the system.
