FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS200STURH2A is a Simplex Primary Turbine Protection Input Terminal Board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series used in distributed control systems. The turbine terminal board has a simplex S-type terminal board version called the Simplex Primary Turbine Protection Input (STUR) terminal board (TTUR). It has connections for the turbine-specific primary trip (PTUR), speed and synchronization inputs, trip relay outputs, and a cable to power a primary trip board. The following are some uses for STUR:

  • Mechanical drives without a synchronizing function but needing Overspeed protection
  • Generator drive systems that demand primary synchronization and Overspeed.
  • Additional uses for the four PTUR pulse input circuits.

The physical dimensions, customer terminal placements, and I/O pack mounting of this terminal board are identical to those of other S-type terminal boards. No component will allow for multiple stacking of terminal boards above the associated PTUR I/O pack.

The primary services that STUR offers are as follows:

  • For attaching a single PTUR I/O pack, the DC-62 pin connector is provided in step one.
  • Takes up to four input speed signals.
  • The board comes with a 48-terminal Euro-style box connector for client connecting points.
  • Offers two outputs for trip solenoids, K1 and K2, each of which is made up of a safety relay (H1, H2).
  • Offers a DC-37 pin connector for attaching a primary trip relay, such as a TPRG, TPRL, TPRS, or TPRA (H3, H4).
  • Takes two major synchronization inputs (PT) (H2, H4). They accept signals from potential transformers that represent the bus voltage and generator voltage.

INSTALLATION:

STUR is mounted on a sheet metal carrier together with a polyethylene insulator. After that, screws are used to attach the carrier to a cabinet.

OPERATION:

BOARD GROUPS: STUR is offered in four different setups. With fixed box terminals, STUR is not possible. It makes use of pluggable connections. For employing an external trip board, two groups provide DC-37 pin connectors and two groups provide onboard trip relays. Two groups used for mechanical applications will have components removed, while groups used for generator applications will have additional components added.

SPEED INPUT: Four-speed input circuits are offered by STUR and can accommodate either passive or active speed sensors. Signal application for passive sensors occurs between terminals PR# H and PR# L, where # is one through four. The PTUR I/O pack can detect speeds as low as 2RPM thanks to the passive sensor input's sensitivity. Signal application occurs between terminals TTL# and PR# L when active speed sensors are being used.

TRIP RELAYS: Two trip solenoid outputs, K1 and K2, are provided by STUR versions H1 and H2 and are each made up of a safety relay that makes use of forcibly steered contacts. PTUR receives relay position info from one of the relay's contact pairs. To link two or three STUR boards in a redundant tripping arrangement, additional customer terminals are offered.

SIMPLEX TURBINE APPLICATIONS:

STUR can take up to four pulse rate signals for simplex applications that measure turbine speed. The 52G circuit breaker's PT signals provide voltage input from both sides, enabling automatic synchronization. A self-contained Overspeed and synchronization function is produced by the onboard trip relays offered by the H1 and H2 groups of STUR. Additionally, a simplex trip terminal board connected to STUR utilizing the DC-37 pin connection can be used in a simplex application with the H3 or H4 group of STUR.

TMR TURBINE APPLICATIONS:

Where TMR applications are required, three STUR/PTUR combinations can be used. A TMR trip terminal board with group H3 or H4 of STUR would typically be used in a typical application. It offers trip relay outputs that are wired to the terminal board for voting. Due to the fact that each trip relay has two normally open contacts, three H1 or H2 STUR boards can be used in a TMR normally open tripping configuration. The STUR offers two parallel customer terminals in specific places where this is desired so that TMR relay contact voting wiring can be fitted without having two wires under one terminal.
