FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS200JPDFG2A is a 125 V DC Power Distribution Module manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series used in GE Distributed Control Systems. The power distribution module is designed to handle redundant 125 V DC power inputs, distributing them to various system boards. It employs a floating DC bus that is centered on Earth, allowing for system ground fault detection while maintaining a safe live 125 V DC rating. Battery power at 125 V DC is connected to a terminal board on the module. This power flows through a 30 A circuit breaker and line filter before reaching the IS200JPDF board via the J1 connector. The module then distributes the DC voltage to three non-switched fused outputs and six switched fused outputs.

  • Additionally, AC power is processed through the board and converted to DC by DACA modules. The resulting DC power merges with the battery input within the JPDF, enabling operation with any combination of active inputs to deliver a reliable 125 V DC power source for control systems.
  • The IS2020JPDF module offers comprehensive status monitoring through a connection to a PPDA I/O pack. This includes feedback on bus voltage magnitude, detection of ground faults, and excessive AC voltage on the DC bus. Each fused branch circuit is also monitored to confirm the presence of output power.
  • The IS2020JPDF module is designed to interface seamlessly with the P1/P2 feedback signal connectors on JPDB, JPDE, JPDS, and JPDM, which connect to a PPDA I/O pack. Its JAF1 connector is compatible with the AC power output from the IS2020JPDB module, while the JZ2 and JZ3 connectors align with those on the IS2020DACA module.

INSTALLATION:

  • The IS2020JPDF module is mounted vertically on a metal back base within a PDM cabinet. It requires a connection between its sheet metal and the system's protective earth (PE).
  • Battery power inputs connect to terminals DCHI and DCLO, while AC power is supplied to JAF1, typically from an IS2020JPDB module, when one or two DACA modules are used. Connections to the DACA modules are made through JZ2 and JZ3. Output circuits are connected according to the system's documentation.
  • For power distribution systems utilizing a PPDA diagnostic I/O pack, a 50-pin ribbon cable connects the JPDF's P1 connector to the P2 connector on the PPDA board. This connection may also route through other PDM boards via their P2 connectors.

GROUNDING:

The JPDF is grounded through metal mounting supports fastened to the underlying sheet metal of a metal module. The ground is applied to the metal switch bodies on JPDF. Additionally, the ground is used as a local reference point when creating the feedback signals appearing on P2. The sheet metal of the module is insulated to the surface upon which it is mounted. This is done specifically to allow the definition of the JPDF ground independent of the mounting surface. Typically, JPDF is mounted to a back base grounded to FE. JPDF would be located low in the cabinet and a separate ground wire from the JPDF module would be provided to PE. The minimum length of the ground wire is important to keep impedance low at radio frequencies allowing the input line filters to function properly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the function of the 125 V DC power distribution module?

The module distributes 125 V DC power from redundant input sources to various system boards, ensuring a reliable power supply for control systems.

How does the module handle ground faults?

It operates on a floating DC bus centered on Earth, allowing ground fault detection while maintaining a safe live 125 V DC rating.

What are the input power requirements for the module?

The module accepts 125 V DC battery power, which is connected through terminals DCHI and DCLO. For AC power, inputs are routed through a JAF1 connector, typically from an IS2020JPDB module.

How is AC power handled by the module?

AC power is converted to DC using DACA modules connected via JZ2 and JZ3 connectors. The converted DC power is then combined with the battery input for distribution.
