Functional Description

IC220ALG220 is a VersaPoint Analog Input module developed by GE. ALG220 is an advanced Analog Input Module from the VersaPoint Distributed I/O system developed by GE Fanuc Automation. This module is designed to offer flexibility and compactness, allowing users to configure their I/O systems to meet specific needs efficiently. As part of the VersaMotion system.

Features

  • Features a 15-bit resolution and supports multiple input types, including voltage (0-10V and 10V) and current (0-20 mA, 2-20 mA, 20 mA). It has two input channels dedicated to current measurements, with a converter time of 120 microseconds and an update rate of less than 1.5 microseconds. The input resistance is more than 220 kilo ohm for voltage inputs and 50 ohm for current inputs, ensuring high accuracy. The module also includes an input filter with a limit frequency of 40 Hz to reduce noise.
  • For connection, uses a 2-wire, shielded sensor cable. It requires a terminal strip for proper installation, which contains five strips. The module's typical current consumption from the Local Bus is 45 mA, with UL current consumption at 88 mA and UANA current consumption at 15 mA. The total power consumption of the module is approximately 0.63W.
  • Housed in a compact enclosure with dimensions of 12.2 mm in width, 120 mm in height, and 71.5 mm in depth. It is designed for installation in a remote cabinet setup, where up to five modules can be accommodated per remote cabinet, and up to five remote cabinets can be integrated into the control cabinet. The module's maximum cable length is 250 meters, making it suitable for a variety of installation scenarios.

Environmental and Installation Requirements

  • Operates within a temperature range of -25oC to 55oC and can be stored between -25oC and 85oC.
  • The module requires a humidity level averaging 75% and must not exceed 85%. It has an IP 20 rating according to IEC 60529, providing protection against dust and direct contact. The module is also classified under Class 3 protection according to VDE 0106 and IEC 60536 standards.

System Integration and Diagnostics

  • The module is equipped with a Bus Diagnostics LED indicator for easy status monitoring and troubleshooting. It is part of the remote cabinet set, and other specialty modules for RTD and Thermocouple inputs are available to meet different application needs. The’s integration into the VersaPoint system provides robust and reliable performance, making it an essential component in various industrial automation setups.
