Functional Description

DS200PANAG1A is an ARCNET LAN Driver Board developed by General Electric. It is a part of Mark V system. In drive control systems, it enables efficient ARCNET communication across the COREBUS and Stage Link networks. This board serves as a daughterboard mounted on the LBC586P processor board within the R control system, ensuring seamless data transmission between essential system components.

Features

  • It facilitates high-speed data exchange within the drive control architecture. It establishes communication between the LBC586P board and AAHA1/AAHA2 boards, ensuring a robust and reliable ARCNET network for real-time control and monitoring.
  • The PANA board is equipped with multiple connectors that facilitate its integration within the control system:
  • Unlike other control system components, the board does not require software configuration. All necessary settings are managed through hardware jumpers and switches.

Data Transmission Process

  • The PANA board transfers data to the Control Engine (LBC586P) processor board through its P1 and P2 bus connectors.
  • It communicates with the AAHA1 board via the APL (ARCNET Primary Link) connector.
  • Similarly, it connects to the AAHA2 board using the BPL (ARCNET Backup Link) connector.
  • Each board is located in position 1 of the R core, ensuring a dedicated and structured communication pathway within the system.

Connector Function

  • APL ARCNET communication link to the AAHA1 board
  • BPL ARCNET communication link to the AAHA2 board
  • P1 Bus connection to the LBC586P board
  • P2 Bus connection to the LBC586P board
  • Configuration and Setup

Hardware Configuration

The board features four switches that define ARCNET addresses for the COREBUS and Stage Link communication.

  • Two switches are assigned for Channel A (Stage Link).
  • Two switches are assigned for Channel B (COREBUS).
  • Hardware jumpers are used to configure interrupts, I/O addresses, and memory addresses for each ARCNET channel.
  • These settings are factory-programmed and aligned with the system’s internal software settings.
