Functional Description

DS200DACAG1ACC is an AC/DC Convertor Board developed by GE. The AC/DC Converter Board is a reliable and versatile component within the Mark V Control System, offering robust power conversion and energy storage capabilities. Proper installation, configuration, and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of the DACA module.

Features

  • The module converts 115/230 V AC input power into 125 V DC output power with an approximate power rating of 1000 W. It is typically utilized when the primary power source for a control system is 125 V DC, with or without a battery backup system.
  • In addition to its power conversion function, the module provides local energy storage, enabling it to extend the system's ride-through time during a complete loss of control power. This ensures uninterrupted operation for critical systems.
  • The module is integral for field excitation in gas, steam, and hydroelectric generators. It assists in controlling AC terminal voltage and reactive volt-ampere outputs, which are crucial for maintaining generator performance and stability.
  • For systems requiring redundancy, two boards can be used concurrently within the Mark V Series turbine control system. Both boards can connect to the same Mark V Series EPDM power board, ensuring seamless and reliable power conversion.
  • The module is equipped with high-quality hardware components and is designed to be visually inspected for maintenance and configuration purposes. The first two revisions of this board are backwards-compatible, ensuring flexibility and ease of integration into existing systems.
  • The input voltage selection is performed by plugging the captive cable harness into one of the following connectors:
    • JTX1: For 115 V AC nominal input.
    • JTX2: For 230 V AC nominal input.

Board Replacement Procedure

  • Power Down: Disconnect power from the module and wait for 1 minute to allow the output voltage to discharge.
  • Disconnect Cable: Remove the power input/output cable (JZ) located on the top right side of the module.
  • Unsecure the Module: Unscrew the four bolts securing the module to the cabinet floor.
  • Remove the Module: Lift and remove the module from the cabinet.
  • Note the capacitor power plug position: Identify whether the capacitor power plug is connected to JTX1 (115 V AC) or JTX2 (230 V AC).
  • Prepare the Replacement Module: Ensure the capacitor power plug on the new module matches the position of the removed plug (JTX1 or JTX2).
  • Install the Replacement Module: Place the new module in the same position as the removed one.
  • Secure the Module: Tighten the four bolts to attach the module firmly to the cabinet floor.
  • Reconnect the Cable: Attach the power input/output plug (JZ) to the module's top right side.
  • Restore Power: Reconnect power to the module and verify its operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DS200DACAG1ACC?
It is an AC/DC Convertor Board developed by GE.

What are the primary functions of this module?
The module serves multiple purposes, including power conversion from AC to DC, energy storage to extend ride-through time during power loss, and field excitation for generators. It helps stabilize AC terminal voltage and manage reactive power, making it an essential component in power systems.

Where is the module typically used?
This module is primarily used in gas, steam, and hydroelectric generators. It plays a vital role in maintaining system stability and efficiency by regulating voltage and supporting field excitation.

Can the module be used for redundancy?
Yes, the module can be used for redundancy. Two boards can be installed within the Mark V Series turbine control system, connecting to the same Mark V EPDM power board. This setup enhances reliability and ensures continuous operation.

How do I configure the input voltage?
The input voltage is configured by selecting the appropriate connector on the module. The JTX1 connector is used for 115 V AC input, while the JTX2 connector is for 230 V AC input. The configuration is achieved by plugging the captive cable harness into the corresponding connector.

What is the process for replacing a module?
Replacing the module involves turning off the power and allowing the voltage to discharge. The power input/output cable is then removed, followed by unscrewing and removing the old module. The capacitor power plug position is noted and replicated for the new module. After placing the new module in position, it is secured with bolts, the cable is reconnected, and power is restored.
