FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
3500 Module Rack is manufactured and designed by Bently Nevada as part of the 3500 Series used for machinery vibration monitoring systems. The Bently Nevada 3500 Rack is a versatile and robust solution designed to support machinery protection and condition monitoring in industrial environments. It is available in three mounting configurations: 19 EIA rail mount, panel cutout mount, and bulkhead mount, providing flexibility for different installation needs. The rack features slots for two Power Supplies and a TDI (Transient Detection Interface) in the left-most positions, which are reserved exclusively for these modules to ensure stable power and transient detection.
The remaining 14 slots in the rack can accommodate a combination of various monitoring modules, including monitor modules, display modules, relay modules, Keyphasor modules, and communication gateway modules. These modules connect to the racks backplane, allowing for easy installation and communication between the modules. Each module is composed of a main module and an I/O module. The I/O module is installed at the rear of the rack in panel-mount systems or above the main module in bulkhead-mount systems, optimizing space and accessibility. The standard rack depth is 349 mm (13.75 inches), while the bulkhead-mount version has a reduced depth of 267 mm (10.5 inches) for space-saving installation.
For environments requiring additional protection, NEMA 4 and 4X weatherproof housings are available. These housings provide enhanced environmental protection, especially in harsh conditions or when purge air is used to maintain clean, dry conditions inside the rack. This flexible and durable rack design ensures that the Bently Nevada 3500 system can be adapted to various industrial applications while providing reliable monitoring and protection for critical machinery.

What is the purpose of the Bently Nevada 3500 Rack?
The Bently Nevada 3500 Rack is designed to house and integrate monitoring modules for machinery protection and condition monitoring. It provides real-time monitoring of critical machinery such as turbines, pumps, compressors, and motors, detecting early signs of malfunction to prevent unplanned downtime.
What is the purpose of the I/O module in the 3500 Rack?
The I/O module is installed at the rear of the rack in panel-mount systems or above the main module in bulkhead-mount systems. It allows the connection of sensors and external devices to the rack, ensuring proper signal conditioning and data transmission to the monitoring modules.
How does the Bently Nevada 3500 Rack help with machinery protection?
The rack continuously monitors parameters like vibration, temperature, pressure, and displacement from critical machinery. It detects anomalies or changes that could indicate potential failures, generating alarms and alerts to help operators take corrective action before a failure occurs.
