FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
IC3600SVSD1 is a Speed Sensor Output Card manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark II Series used in GE Speedtronic Control Systems. The Sensor Simulation Card is a tailored version of Concurrent’s programmable FPGA card, specifically created for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing of engine control units (ECUs). This card, along with its dedicated firmware, can simulate both two-stroke and four-stroke engines, accommodating configurations with up to sixteen cylinders and four independent, variable-phase camshafts. It can replicate engine speeds of up to 30,000 rpm, offering a resolution of 0.001 rpm, and also allows for the simulation of crank reverse rotation during idling.
In HIL engine testing, the ECU connects to a real-time simulation computer that runs an engine model to assess the ECU's functionality. An engine ECU manages a wide range of control signals for inputs and outputs, operating on a microsecond timescale. A single, high-performance FPGA card with customizable firmware can often serve as an interface to the ECU, replacing the need for multiple standard data acquisition cards. Additionally, an FPGA I/O card can effectively buffer ECU events, enhancing communication efficiency between the ECU and the simulation model.
