Functional Description

DS3800HPBA1D is a Parallel Line Buffer Card designed and developed by GE. It is a part of Mark IV control system. This card is specifically engineered to handle parallel data communication, acting as a buffer that temporarily stores data being transmitted between system modules. By stabilizing data flow and reducing the risk of data loss or corruption.

Operator Interface features

  • The operator interface in the Mark IV control system is designed for ease of use, reliability, and safety. It consists of a control insert and an industrial printer, both housed within a convenient roll-out drawer for operator accessibility. The control insert features a modern, industrial-grade membrane switch panel, which offers significantly greater reliability compared to older-style dedicated switches that required extensive hand wiring.
  • When an operator presses a specific pad on the membrane switch, it arms the command, triggering both an audible beep and a flashing LED to indicate the system is ready for execution. To carry out the command, the operator must then press the execute pad. This causes the turbine to respond accordingly, and the LED light transitions from flashing to a steady glow, confirming execution.
  • For safety and to prevent unintended actions, if the execute pad is not pressed within two seconds of arming, the flashing LED turns off and the system automatically ignores the command, requiring the process to be re-initiated. This sequence ensures deliberate operator actions and minimizes risks of accidental turbine control inputs.
