FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS420UCSBH1A REV F is a UCSB Controller Module manufactured by General Electric as part of the Mark VIeS Series used in gas turbine control systems with a 1066 MHz Intel EP80579 microprocessor. The application code is executed by isolated computers known as UCSB controllers. The controller connects with the I/O packs via onboard 1/0 network (IONet) interfaces when mounted in a panel. IONet, a private, special-purpose Ethernet network, only supports Mark-controlled I/O devices and controllers. The controller's operating system (OS) is QNX Neutrino, a real-time, multitasking OS designed for industrial applications that require high speed and dependability. Unlike traditional controllers, which host application I/O on a backplane, the UCSB controller does not have any application I/O hosts. In addition, each controller has access to all I/O networks, allowing them to receive all input data.

The UCSB Controllers are stand-alone computers that run the application code. The controller mounts in a panel and communicates with the I/O packs through on-board I/O network (IONet) interfaces. IONet is a private special-purpose Ethernet that only supports Mark controls I/O modules and controllers. The controller operating system is QNX Neutrino, a real-time, multitasking OS designed for high-speed, high-reliability industrial applications. The Mark VIeS UCSB safety controller and safety I/O modules are used for functional safety loops to achieve SIL 2 and 3 capabilities. The UCSB controllers offer the following advantages.

  • Single Module
  • Built-in power supply
  • No jumper settings required
  • No battery
  • No fan (UCSBSIA, UCSBH1A, UCSBH4A)
  • Dual redundant fans
  • Small fan footprint
  • Flash memory can be conveniently updated
