FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
IS420ESWBH3A REV-E is a 10/100 Ethernet IONet Switch manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series used in GE Distributed Gas Turbine Control Systems. The ESWx Industrial Ethernet Switch is a network device designed specifically for industrial applications, enabling reliable and high-speed Ethernet communication in harsh environments. These switches are critical components in turbine control systems, where they facilitate seamless data exchange between various control, monitoring, and safety devices. It is available in 8 ports, 10/100BASE-TX. The ESWB Ethernet 10/100 switches are specially designed to meet the needs of real-time industrial control solutions and are required for all IONet switches used in Mark VIe & VIeS safety control systems. It is a DIN - Rail mounting module. To meet the requirements for speed and functionality the following features are provided.
ETHERNET SWITCH FLOW CONTROL:
The switch supports flow control between switches. It uses IEEE-defined pause packets to receive and honor pause packets. The switch only sends the pause packets if it needs flow control on a port. Because high reliability is critical to any controls solutions business, the switch exceeds 4 million hours Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) at 35°C (95 °F) ambient temperature, ground fixed controlled environment.
CONFORMANCE CRITERIA FOR ETHERNET SWITCH:
The packet traffic can be synchronized by IEEE 1588 timing and triggered to initiate within a 1-microsecond packet start window. The switch’s capability and conformance are tested to meet the following four criteria:

What is a 10/100 Ethernet IONet Switch?
A 10/100 Ethernet IONet Switch is a network device designed to facilitate communication between Ethernet-enabled devices at data rates of 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps. It is commonly used in industrial applications such as turbine control systems, where reliable and real-time communication is essential.
How is network traffic prioritized in a 10/100 Ethernet IONet Switch?
Network traffic in a 10/100 Ethernet IONet Switch can be prioritized using Quality of Service (QoS) features. These switches allow the configuration of traffic classes to ensure that critical data, such as control signals or alarm messages, are given higher priority over less important traffic.
What is the maximum number of devices that can be connected to an Ethernet IONet Switch?
The number of devices that can be connected to an Ethernet IONet Switch depends on the number of available Ethernet ports on the switch. Most IONet switches offer 8, 16, or 24 ports, allowing multiple devices (e.g., controllers, sensors, actuators) to connect.
What are the port features on the switch?
The switch has 10/100 Base-T copper ports with auto-negotiation for connection flexibility. It also includes full/half duplex auto-negotiation and a 100 Mbps FX uplink port for high-speed data transfer to backbone or uplink networks.
