FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS220BAPAH1A is a Simplex Analog Processor Module manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the VIe Series used in GE Distribution Gas Turbine Control Systems. The Analog Processor is a sophisticated piece of hardware designed for precise analog signal processing and digital conversion. The Analog Processor is a highly integrated and versatile piece of hardware designed for precise analog signal conditioning, high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion, and efficient digital signal processing, all while offering robust connectivity and power management features.

ANALOG SIGNAL-CONDITIONING CHANNELS:

  • Differential Inputs: Each channel supports differential input signals, which effectively reduces common-mode noise and enhances signal integrity, critical for accurate data acquisition and processing.
  • Adjustable Gains: The gain of the input signals can be adjusted to 1x, 2x, 4x, and 8x. This flexibility allows the Analog Processor to accommodate varying signal amplitudes without compromising accuracy or resolution.
  • DC Bias Nulling: This feature enables the removal of any unwanted DC offsets present in the input signals. By nulling out DC bias, the Analog Processor ensures that subsequent signal processing, such as analog-to-digital conversion, is based solely on the AC component of the signal, thereby enhancing accuracy.
  • Multiplexer for Test Signals: Incorporated into the design is a built-in multiplexer that can bypass normal signal inputs and apply test signals instead. This capability simplifies diagnostic procedures and facilitates testing of the Analog Processor's functionality without requiring external test equipment.
  • Anti-Alias Filters: Each analog channel is equipped with anti-aliasing filters capable of supporting a bandwidth of 5 kHz. These filters effectively suppress frequencies above the Nyquist limit during analog-to-digital conversion, preventing aliasing artifacts that can distort signals and compromise measurement accuracy.

A/D INPUT CHANNELS:

  • Twenty-Four Channels: The processor boasts 24 dedicated analog-to-digital (A/D) input channels, providing extensive capacity to convert analog signals into digital format.
  • Six Channels per Converter: These 24 channels are divided among the A/D converters, with each converter handling up to six channels. This distribution optimizes the utilization of the A/D conversion capability across multiple input signals.
  • 16-bit Converters: The A/D converters integrated into the processor operate at a resolution of 16 bits. This high resolution ensures that analog signals are converted into digital format with exceptional accuracy and precision, capturing even subtle variations in input signals.
