FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

IS215UCVEM02A is a UCVE Controller Module manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VI Series used in GE Speedtronic Control Systems. The UCVE series is available in various models, including UCVEH2 and UCVEM01 through UCVEM10. The UCVEH2 is the standard controller, featuring a single-slot board equipped with a 300 MHz Intel Celeron processor, 16 MB of flash memory, and 32 MB of DRAM. It includes a 10BaseT/100BaseTX (RJ-45) Ethernet port for connecting to the toolbox or other control devices.
The UCVEM_ _ modules offer all the capabilities of the UCVEH2 and additional features such as extra Ethernet ports and support for Profibus, ISBus, or DLAN interfaces. Some UCVEM_ _ modules also provide a secondary 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet port, which can be configured for a separate IP subnet using the toolbox. This configuration ensures that the controller can validate its setup against existing hardware each time the rack is powered up, and the secondary subnet address allows for unique identification of the Ethernet port. The controllers include three communication ports:

  • Ethernet connections for interfacing with Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and other control equipment.
  • RS-232C COM1 port for initial setup.
  • RS-232C COM2 port for communication with distributed control systems (DCS), such as Modbus slave.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How is the secondary Ethernet port configured?

The secondary Ethernet port can be configured through the toolbox, allowing it to operate on a separate IP subnet. This setup helps the controller validate its configuration against existing hardware upon powering up.

How does the controller ensure proper configuration?

The controller validates its toolbox configuration against the existing hardware each time the rack is powered up. This helps maintain accurate and reliable operation.

Can I use the secondary Ethernet port on a different IP subnet?

Yes, some UCVEM_ _ modules support a secondary Ethernet port that can be configured to operate on a separate IP subnet for improved network management and isolation.
