Functional Description

IC695ACC400-AA is an RX3i Energy Pack developed by GE. It is a part of Mark I and II control system. This Energy Pack ensures that the RX3i CPE305 or CPE310 controller CPU has a reliable power source in the event of a loss of system power. It provides enough power to the system to allow the CPU to save its user memory contents to non-volatile flash memory. This critical function prevents data loss during unexpected power outages, safeguarding the integrity of the system's operations.

Features

  • The Energy Pack ensures the RX3i CPU can complete crucial tasks, such as saving data to non-volatile memory, when the main power supply is lost.
  • The Energy Pack mounts easily on the left side of an RX3i module and connects to the CPU via the IC695CBL001 cable.
  • It charges from the RX3i system’s 24 VDC supply, via the IC695CBL001 cable, when the system is powered up.

Installation Guide

  • Mounting the Energy Pack: The Energy Pack is mounted on the left side of an RX3i module. To ensure space is saved on the backplane, the Energy Pack is typically mounted on the module in slot 0 (usually a power supply module). It will extend approximately 13mm (0.5 inches) beyond the left side of the backplane when mounted in slot 0.
  • Connecting the Cable: Use the cable to connect the Energy Pack to the CPU. This cable runs from the bottom connector of the Energy Pack to the corresponding connector on the CPU.
  • Physical Installation Steps
    • Step 1: Engage the Energy Pack’s mounting hooks on the frame of the module.
    • Step 2: Rotate the bottom of the Energy Pack into place, ensuring the bottom hooks engage properly. The latch will snap into place, securing the Energy Pack.
    • Step 3: Attach the cable from the connector on the bottom of the Energy Pack to the matching connector on the CPU.

Operation

Upon initial power-up or after a significant discharge, the Energy Pack may require several seconds to charge before it reaches its operating level. During this charging period, the Energy Pack will display a Charging status to the CPU.

Energy Pack Status Indications:

  • Charging: The Energy Pack is in the process of charging but has not yet reached the minimum voltage required for operation.
  • Fault: Indicates a hardware issue with the Energy Pack that needs to be addressed.
  • Low Capacitance: Signals that the Energy Pack is nearing the end of its life cycle and should be replaced.
  • Charged: The Energy Pack has reached its minimum operating voltage and is ready to support CPU operation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is IC695ACC400-AA?
It is an RX3i Energy Pack developed by GE.

How does the Energy Pack work?
In the event of a power loss, the Energy Pack provides temporary power to the RX3i CPU, allowing it to write critical user data to non-volatile memory. This prevents data loss when the system experiences an unexpected shutdown.

How is the Energy Pack installed?
The Energy Pack mounts on the left side of the RX3i module. It should be installed in slot 0 of the rack (typically where the power supply is located). The Energy Pack is connected to the CPU using the cable. The installation process involves securing the Energy Pack in place using its mounting hooks and connecting the cable between the Energy Pack and the CPU.

How do I connect the Energy Pack to the system?
The cable connects the Energy Pack to the RX3i CPU. One end of the cable plugs into the bottom connector of the Energy Pack, and the other end connects to the corresponding connector on the CPU.
