Functional Description
DS3800HMPK1J1J is a Microprocessor Board developed by GE. It is a part of the Mark IV control system. The board is equipped with a modular connector, while the opposite end features retention levers, facilitating a secure and straightforward installation process.
Features
- The HMPK card is designed for quick and easy installation in the drive system. It features a modular connector on one end and retention levers on the other, ensuring a secure fit and efficient setup.
- The card is equipped with several indicator LEDs, including three red LEDs and one amber LED, which are visible from the front. These LEDs provide clear and immediate status updates, allowing for easy monitoring of the card's operation.
- At its core, the HMPK card houses a microprocessor that handles essential processing tasks. It also includes erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules for storing crucial firmware and data.
- The card is equipped with a 34-pin connector and two 50-pin connectors, facilitating various interface and communication needs within the drive system.
Power-Up Sequence and LED Indicators
- When the card is energized (PS.C), the yellow I'M OK LED should follow a specific sequence: turn on momentarily, turn off momentarily, and then turn back on continuously. This pattern indicates that the HMPK card has successfully passed its initialization tests.
- If this sequence fails, check the position of the Berg jumpers on the card to ensure they are correctly placed. Confirm that the PROMs are properly seated in their sockets on the daughter board (DMPK or DMPL) attached to the card. If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider replacing the card.
Memory I/O Display on CRT
- During initialization, the Memory I/O display should appear on the CRT for five seconds. If this display does not appear, move the printer cable from the JB connector of the communication card in slot 2F to the JA connector of the HMPK in slot 2M.
- Turn on the printer and re-initialize CC. This should print RAM_PROM_TEST_FAILURE_DATA, indicating any failed cards. Replace any failed cards identified from the minimum card list required for the CC Memory I/O display.
Reinitialization
- Once PS.C is on, you can re-initialize CC by temporarily jumpering the upper two test rings on the card.
- During this process, horizontal rows of N's and U's will be displayed on the CRT, indicating the initialization of the HVD8 card.
Minimum Card Requirements for Operation
- For the CC Memory I/O display, the following cards are required: HMPK 2M, HXPD 2F, HUM8 2K, HUM8 2L (required if HMPK has DMPK daughter board, not required if HMPK has DMPL daughter board), and HVDB 2A.
- For the RAM_PROM_TEST_FAILURE_DATA, the required cards are HMPK 2M and HUM8 2L for systems with DMPK, or just HMPK 2M for systems with DMPL.
