Functional Description
DS2020EXPSG7 is a Bulk Power Supply Board developed by GE. It facilitates the accurate measurement of both AC and DC input power. Beyond its role in signal provision, the EXPS fulfills an essential function by implementing current limiting measures when the power supply is activated from the station battery. In its capacity to measure AC and DC input power, the EXPS ensures that the system receives the necessary signals for comprehensive monitoring and analysis. This capability is vital for maintaining operational efficiency and identifying any deviations or irregularities in power consumption. By accurately measuring both AC and DC input power, the EXPS enables operators to make informed decisions regarding system performance and energy usage.
Features
- Offers system safety and reliability, particularly when powered from the station battery. In such instances, where power supply may be more prone to fluctuations or instability, the EXPS implements current limiting actions to prevent potential overloads or damage to the system components. This proactive approach to current management enhances the overall resilience of the system, safeguarding against unforeseen risks and optimizing operational uptime.
- By combining its functions of signal provision and current limiting action, the EXPS contributes significantly to the seamless operation and longevity of the system. Its ability to provide accurate power measurements and implement protective measures underscores its importance as a critical component in ensuring the reliability and performance of the overall system.
Board Replacement Procedure
- Power Shutdown: Begin by turning off the power to the system to prevent any electrical hazards during the installation process.
- Bulk Power Supply Removal: To access the EXPS board for replacement, the entire bulk power supply must be removed from the system. Before proceeding, verify zero potential at all connections of the power supply assembly to minimize the risk of electrical shock.
- Disconnecting Connectors: Carefully disconnect various connectors.Unplug connectors such as lFTB, 1TB thru 8TB, DCTB, VM2A, and VM2B, as required, to facilitate the removal of the power supply assembly.
Loosening Mounting Screws: Loosen the four mounting screws securing the power supply assembly in place. Exercise caution during this step to avoid damaging the assembly components.
- Removing Power Supply Assembly: Carefully lift the power supply assembly out of the cabinet, ensuring not to remove the ACPL component. Take the assembly to a workbench for further disassembly.
- Board Replacement: Remove the plastic protective cover by unscrewing the four screws holding it in place. Unplug connectors such as DCPL, 3GDPL, and 4GDPL from the old board. Replace the old board with the new one, ensuring that it is securely seated in place. Set JPl on the replacement board in the exact position as on the old board to maintain compatibility. Connector Reconnection: Reconnect the connectors removed in step 3, ensuring each cable is properly seated at both ends. Reinstall the plastic protective cover and secure it with screws.
- Reinstallation of Power Supply Assembly: Carefully place the power supply assembly back into the cabinet. Reconnect the connectors removed in step 3, ensuring that cables are labeled correctly and properly seated at both ends. The board contains a manually moveable hardware jumper, JPl, which connects the center tap of T1 secondary to ground. During installation or replacement, ensure proper positioning of this jumper according to system requirements.
