8272-447 is a Motor Operated Potentiometer manufactured and designed by Woodward. For Woodward 2301, 2301A, 2500, and Electrically Powered Governor (EPG) controls, this motor-operated potentiometer (MOP) provides a low-cost method of remote speed modification or speed trimming. Moreover, the Woodward Generator Load Control and the family of Import/Export controls employ the MOP to change the power level. With the exception of MOPs 8272-131 and 8271-877, which feature 3 rpm motors, all MOPs covered by this product standard have 1 rpm motors.
The MOP is a potentiometer assembly that an electric motor drives through a connection. To protect the potentiometer from harm when it is turned all the way to the end of its travel, the motor has a friction clutch mechanism. On a bracket made of sheet steel are mounted the motor and potentiometer. Install the MOP remotely or at the electrical control panel.
