531X305NTBAMG1 is a NTB/3TB Terminal Board developed by GE. The board is encased in the drive (or exciter) cabinet. For most external signal-level I/O, the board contains passive interface circuitry and the drive's (or exciter's) connection terminals. The NTB/3TB is connected to the drive control board via connectors 6PL and 8PL, to the power supply board via connectors 2PL and 4PL, and to external equipment via connector COMPL and terminal board 3TB.

Functional Description

The NTB/3TB is equipped with the following interfaces:

  • Power supply
  • Encoder
  • RS-232C and RS422 interfaces
  • Relay outputs
  • Analog Tach and Reference coarse scaling
  • Analog I/O at the low level
  • Digital control inputs

Power Supply

The NTB/3TB provides the following external power outputs:

  • Regulated +5 V dc and +15 V dc with 300 mA current capacity
  • Unregulated 24 V dc, 500 mA current capacity
  • 120 V alternating current with a current capacity of 0.5 A Baluns (line chokes) provide two noise-filtered power supply outputs that can be used to power digital encoders. To balance loading, hardware jumpers allow the encoder loads to be distributed among the +5 V dc and 15 V dc supplies.

531X305NTBAMG1 Relay Outputs

  • The NTB/3TB provides the following outputs from seven relays with a contact rating of 120 V ac, 1 A:
  • Five relays controlled by the drive control board provide form C output. A sixth relay controlled by the drive control board provides form A output and one side of the coil. This allows the drive control board or an external 24 V dc signal to control the coil.
  • External signals can also access the coil driver output of the drive control board for applications that cannot tolerate the time delay associated with relay pickup.
  • Two form C contacts and both sides of a seventh relay's coil for general purpose use.
  • A hardware jumper controls whether the coil is powered by 24 V dc or 120 V ac.
  • The board also provides form C contacts from the Power Supply/Interface Board's MA contactor pilot relay. These contacts have a 120 V ac, 2 A rating.

Features

  • Several terminal strips for inputs and outputs are present on this board, which serves as an interface board. The component is made to offer a number of external signal-level inputs and outputs to the attached control device. For driving digital encoders, regulated and unregulated power outputs with noise-filtering are provides.
  • Additionally, it had an optically isolated differential A quad B encoder interface that could be attached to the drive. Using jumper switches on the board's surface, this can be set up for +5V or +/-15V encoders. Through four potentiometers on the board's surface, the card also provides low-level analog I/O scaling.
  • Digital control inputs are also included. Depending on whether positive or negative logic is being utilized, these use jumpers to bias disconnected inputs to +/-24 VDC. The board also has a number of relay outputs and RS-232C and RS-422 connectors.
  • For checking crucial signal paths, it also features test spots on the board's surface. DIP switches are the only other customizable hardware available outside the aforementioned jumpers and potentiometers.

Installation

  • GEI-10020B contains information regarding their settings. Please consult the user guides and instructions that General Electric initially produced in order to acquire crucial information about the installation and handling of the component. These papers will include detailed instructions on how to handle this equipment properly during installation and removal.
