SPECIFICATIONS

Part No.: 531X305NTBALG1
Manufacturer: General Electric
Country of Manufacture: United States (USA)
Product Type: NTB/3TB Terminal Board
Series: EX2000

531X305NTBALG1 is an NTB/3TB Terminal Board developed by GE under the EX2000 excitation system. It is located within the drive (or exciter) cabinet. The drive's (or exciter's) connection terminals for the majority of external signal-level I/O are located on the board, along with passive interface circuitry. Plugs 6PL and 8PL from the drive control board plugs 2PL and 4PL from the power supply board, plug COMPL from the terminal board 3TB, and plugs 2PL and 4PL from external equipment connected to the NTB/3TB. Tables 5 through 10 include definitions of I/O.

Interfaces are provided by NTB/3TB

The following interfaces are provided by the NTB/3TB:

  • Power supply
  • Encoder
  • RS-232C and RS422
  • Relay Outputs
  • Analog Tach and Reference coarse scaling
  • Low-level analog I/O
  • Digital control inputs

531X305NTBALG1 Power Supply

For external use, the NTB/3TB provides the following power outputs:

  • Regulated voltages of +5 V dc and 15 V dc, each with a 300 mA current capacity
  • Unregulated dc 24 V, 500 mA current capacity
  • Baluns (line chokes) are used to provide two noise-filtered power supply outputs for driving digital encoders at 120 V ac with a current capacity of 0.5 A. To balance loading, hardware jumpers enable allocation of the encoder loads among the +5 V dc and 15 V dc supply.

Encoder Interface

A differential A-quad-B encoder interface with a marker channel is included in the NTB/3TB and can be used to connect to the drive. The drive control board's version of this circuit is optically separated. Jumpers are included in the NTB/3TB to allow the interface to be set up for +5 V or 15 V encoders.

531X305NTBALG1 Relay Outputs

The NTB/3TB offers the following outputs from seven relays with contact ratings of 120 V ac, 1 A:

  • The drive control board controlled five relays' Form C output.
  • One kind A sixth relay that is controlled by the drive control board has an output and one side of the coil. This makes it possible for the drive control board or an external 24 V dc signal to control the coil. Applications that cannot tolerate the time delay associated with the relay pickup can also access the drive control board's coil driver output.
  • The seventh relay with two form C contacts and both sides of the coil is intended for general application. Whether this coil is driven by 24 V dc or 120 V ac is determined by a hardware jumper. Additionally, the power supply/interface board's MA contactor pilot relay supplies form C connections to the board. 120 V ac, 2 A is the rating for these contacts.

Configurable Hardware

  • The configurable hardware on the NTB/3TB must be properly configured for the application.
  • Hardware jumpers of the Berg type can be moved manually, denoted by a JP designation.
  • Pots are designated by a P nomenclature, and DIP switches are identified by an SW nomenclature. The majority of the jumper options are pre-set at the factory. These factory fixed positions are listed on the test data sheets that come with each controller (in the drive/exciter door pocket).
