Functional Description

44S723300G01 is a turbine control system board developed by General Electric (GE) as part of its advanced control systems for turbine applications. The board, as part of this platform. The board and its associated control system are designed to ensure a seamless and efficient integration of hardware and software for turbine management.

Features of the GE Control System

  • Integrated Control Platform: The control system unifies turbine operation, protection, and performance monitoring into a single cohesive system. It provides seamless coordination of generator and mechanical drive controls.
  • Flexibility in Applications: Suitable for both gas turbines and steam turbines, the system supports a wide range of industrial applications. Acts as an ideal platform for integrating power island controls and balance-of-plant (BOP) controls, ensuring streamlined operation across the entire power generation infrastructure.
  • Collaborative Design: The hardware and software are the result of a close collaboration between GE’s turbine design engineering and controls engineering teams. This synergy ensures that the control system is precisely tailored to maximize turbine performance, offering a robust and reliable solution.
  • Optimization and Performance: Designed to deliver optimal turbine performance, the system leverages advanced algorithms and real-time monitoring to adapt to varying operational conditions. By integrating sophisticated protection mechanisms, the system minimizes risks and enhances the operational lifespan of the turbines.

Time Synchronization

  • Time synchronization ensures that all controls and HMIs on the UDH operate in harmony by aligning to a Global Time Source (GTS). Typical GTS options include Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receivers such as the StarTime GPS Clock or other specialized time-processing hardware. The preferred time sources are Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) or GPS, although the system also supports GTS configured with local time as the base reference.
  • The GTS establishes a time-link network to one or more HMIs equipped with a time/frequency processor board. Once the HMI receives the time signal, it transmits it to the Mark VI control systems via the Network Time Protocol (NTP), achieving synchronization with a precision of ±1ms. Supported time sources include IRIG-A, IRIG-B, 2137, NASA-36, and other local signals, ensuring flexibility and compatibility with various industrial setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 44S723300G01?
It is a turbine control system board developed by GE under the Mark VI series.

What types of Global Time Sources (GTS) are supported?
The system supports GTS such as Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receivers like the StarTime GPS Clock and other time-processing hardware.

How is the time signal distributed?
The GTS provides a time-link network to one or more HMIs equipped with a time/frequency processor board. The HMIs receive the time signal and transmit it to the Mark VI control systems using Network Time Protocol (NTP).

What level of precision is achieved through synchronization?
The system achieves a precision of 1ms time coherence across all units.
